HARRINGTON MANSION – New Home to Minneapolis 19

Listed on the rolls of the Minneapolis Historic Registry, the stately buff/brick Georgian mansion was designed and built at the turn of the century and soon became a showplace of Minneapolis society.

Purchased by the Zuhrah Shrine in 1930, the mansion is an impressive landmark with its massive flower boxes featuring classical Greek frieze, while lion heads and ornate Corinthian pillars guard the entrance. Just past the entry is the formidable branching stairway leading to the magnificent second and third floors of lavish meeting and entertainment venues. This elegant staircase continues to be a favorite setting for wedding ceremonies as well as an elegant photographic background of wedding couples.

The appearance of the Harrington Mansion remains much as it did in 1902 when Swedish and
Norwegian artisans completed the ornamental décor, carving the imported mahogany woodwork and painting the murals on the ceilings and walls. In addition, numerous pieces of furniture, paintings and light fixtures remain exactly as they were when the structure was a private residence, maintaining the richness and charm that continues to impress all who visit this magnificent estate.
